This week has been one of those moments where I really feel the heartbeat of why I do what I do.
First, I’m deeply honored to share that Andrea Stolpe, one of my longtime teachers and mentors, invited me to lead upcoming songwriting workshops for her EMC Institute online. Andrea’s vision for helping songwriters grow has shaped my own journey, and being asked to support other writers in their craft is a full-circle moment. I can’t wait to connect with people who love songwriting as much as I do and help them find their voice.
On the At-Home Songwriting front, there’s so much in motion. I’ve been filming and uploading new YouTube videos that will roll out soon, including one about writing timeless songs that last—the kind of music that sticks with you for decades. I also made a video diving into the behind-the-scenes of promoting my upcoming music. Sharing my process is important to me, because music isn’t just what I do—it’s who I am.
Speaking of new music, I’ve officially decided on my first few single releases leading up to my album. My next single, “Might Be Trouble,” drops on September 15th. I’m in love with its smooth R&B-pop vibe—it’s flirty, fun, and has a groove I can’t wait for you to hear.
On top of that, I’ve started writing song #48 (only two away from my 50-song goal!). This one leans into my Minneapolis roots with some pop-funk magic inspired by the 80’s sound of The Jets. It’s been energizing to dig into that style and feel the creativity flowing again.
Outside the studio, I went to Day Block Brewing in Minneapolis last night and caught an amazing show with my friend Bowdizz—a great rapper I’ve had on my channel before—and discovered a new hip hop artist, Crowfather. Live music always fuels my creative fire, and these artists reminded me why I love being part of a community of musicians pushing boundaries.
This coming week is packed with more music-making and exciting moments. I’ve scheduled a YouTube Live for Wednesday, August 27th, at 6 PM Central. It’s going to be a casual hang where we chat about songwriting, share ideas, and just connect as music lovers. I’d love for you to join me.
And yes, I’ve also been keeping up with my day job and hoping to enjoy the cooler Minnesota weather in the yard this weekend—life is all about balance.
Here’s what I want you to take away: Music plays a massive role in my life, and I believe in sharing that passion with you. The world can feel negative and heavy, but if you have a dream, you have the power to make it real. No one else will do it for you. Keep going, keep creating, and keep believing in yourself.
